BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: 7” Album Has Spent a Full Year on Billboard 200 Charts

BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: 7” album has officially spent 52 weeks on the Billboard 200. This means that the album has been on the Billboard 200 every month of the year since it was released, one year ago. Map of the Soul: 7 is BT’ fourth Korean-language (seventh overall) studio album, released on February 21, 2020. It is the follow-up to their 2019 extended play Map of the Soul: Persona, with five of its songs appearing on the album. The album was supported by two singles, both entering the US Billboard Hot 100: “Black Swan” debuted and peaked at number 57, while “On” reached number 4, becoming the band’s first top-five hit on the chart.

Happy 1st Year Anniversary To BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: 7,” The Album Of The Decade!

Map of the Soul: 7 is BTS’ album released on February 21, 2020. It is the follow-up to their 2019 extended play Map of the Soul: Persona, with five of its songs appearing on the album. Described by BTS as “deeply personal”, the album is influenced by their journey and growth of seven years since their debut, it touches upon themes of reflection, introspection, and self-acceptance.

BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: 7” is 1 of Only 8 Albums Certified RIAA Platinum in 2020

In November 2020, Map of the Soul: 7 was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which denotes one million album-equivalent units. It is their second album to be awarded platinum following “Love Yourself: Answer” album back in 2018. Only 8 albums released in 2020 achieved the coveted RIAA platinum certification. Among publications “Map Of The Soul: 7” was named The Atlantic’s 16 Best Albums of 2020, Billboard‘s 50 Best Albums of 2020, Consequence of Sound’s Top 50 Albums of 2020 and Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2020.

WATCH ALL BTS “Map Of The Soul: 7” Interviews to Celebrate a Legendary Album

Map of the Soul: 7 was released on February 21, 2020. The album reached number one on charts in over 20 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom. In the United States, Map of the Soul: 7 debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200 chart with 422,000 album-equivalent units (including 347,000 sales) earned in its first week. It became BTS’ fourth consecutive chart-topper in the country. With this, BTS became the first Asian group to top the charts in all of the top-five music markets in the world.

BTS Becomes The First Group to Earn Two No. 1 Albums in 2020

It is no surprise that BTS have 2 no. 1 ALBUMS in 2020! A year that has been gloomy yet BTS have created music that is bringing comfort to people around the world. Topping charts has been a regular occurrence for BTS who have always created music with a purpose.
