BTS’ “Butter” Breaks Record in Japan by Becoming Fastest Song to Be Certified RIAJ Platinum

“72 Days. That is how long it has taken for BTS’ Summer song “Butter” to reach 100 million streams in Japan. The song becomes BTS’ fourth song joins “Dynamite” “Stay Gold” and “Boy With Luv” to achieve this milestone. “Butter” released on 21st May this year started the race breaking streaming and viewing records, it is still dominating the top 10 Billboard Hot 100 Chart at 13 weeks.

Japan Record Association divides certification into four levels, Silver (more than 30 million times), Gold (more than 50 million times), Platinum (more than 100 million times), and Diamond (more than 500 million times) through the official website every month.

Certification is based on the cumulative number of streams calculated by the Association based on the data provided by GfK Japan (GfK Insight Japan Co., Ltd.), and based on the application from each member company, in principle, the end of the month following the certification month. The certified works are published every month.
