Shawn Stockman member of the famous American vocal harmony band “BoyzIIMen” reacted to BTS’ V and RM doing a cover of their mega hit song “End of the Road”
During the 1990s, Boyz II Men gained international success. This began with the release of top 5 singles “Motownphilly” and “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” in 1991, followed by the number one single “End of the Road” in 1992, which reached the top of charts worldwide. “End of the Road” set a new record for longevity, staying at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen weeks.
Boyz II Men proceeded to break this record with the subsequent releases of “I’ll Make Love to You” and “One Sweet Day” (with Mariah Carey), which, at fourteen and sixteen weeks, respectively, each set new records for the total number of weeks at number one.
Shawn Stockma retweeted a tweet that a fan had tagged him and wrote,
“Love It! Thanks fellas“
with a blushing emoji. He again posted the clip on his personal Instagram account story and added a clip to his page writing,
“It’s always so amazing that our @boyziimen music is enjoyed by so many, from all Walks of life and by all ages and colors. But it’s especially amazing that the biggest group in the world enjoys our music too! ☺️ #kimtaehyung and #namjoon doing their thing ☺️. Love u guys. #bts #boyziimen“
In a 2019 interview with KBS’s “Entertainment Weekly,” Shawn Stockman said,
“My son likes them. He plays the music all around the house and everything, and obviously BTS is the biggest band in the world right now. I didn’t know any of their music but [after] seeing the show, I was impressed. They put on an amazing show. [They were] crazy energetic and a lot of their songs are really nice, like R&B, soulful. I got into it.”
His fellow member even shared that Shawn has a poster of them in his room, and Shawn proudly admitted the fact. The interviewer said, “So you became an ARMY,” and Shawn declares, “Yes, I am an ARMY.”
Shawn also talked about his cover of “Serendipity,” saying, “I’ve never done anything in Korean, so I had to write it out phonetically for me because I don’t read Korean. So how he sounded was how I wrote it.”
Boyz II Men is among the music industry’s elite with regard to time spent at number one in Billboard history with 50 cumulative weeks, ranking sixth behind Drake, the Beatles, Rihanna, Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey. Furthermore, when “On Bended Knee” took the number one spot away from “I’ll Make Love to You”, Boyz II Men became only the third artists ever (after the Beatles and Presley) to replace themselves at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Boyz II Men has received four Grammy Awards.
