BTS have for the second year won at the 2021 International Forum Design Award. Last year, they won the main prize in the brand & communication category for the package design of BTS’ ‘LOVE YOURSELF’ album series (Love Yourself Her, Love Yourself Tear and Love Yourself Answer), at the Red Dot Design 2020.
According to the list of winners of the ‘iF Design Award 2021’ released on the 12th April 2021 by ‘iF International Forum Design GmbH’ in Germany, BTS’s ‘Graphic Lyrics’ series won in the Communication category.
The ‘iF Design Award’ is evaluated as one of the world’s top three design awards along with the Red Dot Design Award and IDEA (International Design Excellence Award). BTS’ ‘Graphic Lyrics’ series, which won the main prize in the communication category, is a project that HYBE IP (formerly Big Hit IP) expressed as an illustration (GRAPHIC) of BTS’s lyrics in June of last year as a picture book.
“This year we received more entries to the iF DESIGN AWARD 2021 than ever before: almost 10,000 in a total of 9 disciplines. In a time when almost everything is different, the quality of design of these entries was pleasantly high. Design moves fast and responds to trends. It should be no surprise that the pandemic has shaped many of this year’s winners, from a greater focus on hygiene to the fact that many people are spending more time at home” iF Awards. Source
Last year on June 21 2020, BTS’ label announced the upcoming release of “Graphic Lyrics,” which is a series of graphic books depicting five songs by BTS. The “Graphic Lyrics” books included fan-favorite tracks “A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone,” “Save Me,” “House of Cards,” “Run” and “Butterfly,” and it will feature artistic illustrations decoding each song’s lyrics
“With ‘Graphic Lyrics,’ we are introducing a new way of enjoying music for the first time with BTS songs and are planning to continue the series with Big Hit’s multi-label artists as well. We expect the ‘Graphic Lyrics’ series, which captures the sensitivity of paper books by translating music in writing and painting, to be a unique experience not only for BTS fans but also for the public audience.” Big Hit’s statement read
The series of five books officially hit shelves and online retailers on June 29, and pre-sales began on June 23 on Big Hit’s Weverse shop, Amazon and more.
