
BTS’ “Dynamite” is on a mission of breaking records in its wake, released on 21st August 2020, the song is in its 7th month and yet has been collecting records left right and center without apology. Released by BTS with an intention to soothe listeners during the COVID 19 pandemic, talking about joy and appreciation for the little things that make life valuable, “Dynamite” has become a song to be reckoned with. This week, “Dynamite” remains on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first song by a Korean group in history to spend 30 weeks on the chart! and also the 2nd longest run by a Korean act ever at 30 weeks.
Longest charting songs on Hot 100 by Korean acts are: #1 Gangnam Style (released 2012) – 31 weeks, #2 BTS Dynamite (released 2020) – 30 weeks*, #3 Baby Shark (released 2016) – 20 weeks, #4 Gentleman (released 2013) – 15 weeks, #5 BTS MIC Drop (released 2017) – 10 weeks . Among the songs, “Dynamite” is the youngest song and BTS have 2 songs on the list.


“Dynamite” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the band’s first number-one single in the United States and making BTS the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100 “Dynamite” stayed atop the Hot 100 for three total weeks. “Dynamite” peaked at number one on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, topping the latter for three consecutive weeks. The song charted in the top 10 in 25 different countries.
On March 9, 2021, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) published its annual top-10 charts. “Dynamite” was named the 10th best-selling digital single of 2020 globally, having amassed 1.28 billion subscription stream equivalents worldwide in less than five months
After the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, Billboard reported “Dynamite” sold 10,500 copies, a 2,748% increase and and was the top-selling song of the night. The song returned to the top of the Digital Songs Sales chart for a 15th non-consecutive week, further extending its record for the most weeks at number one among all groups on the ranking.
“Dynamite” is BTS’ first single first to receive double-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), on March 17 “Dynamite” has spent 30 consecutive weeks, all inside the top 50, on the Billboard Hot 100 as the second longest-charting song by a Korean artist on the chart, “Gangnam Style” holds the record with 31 weeks.
