BTS Tops 2020’s IFPI Global Album Sales Chart With 3 Albums, Breaks the 2009 Record

BTS have broken Michael Jackson’s 12-year-old record and are now the FIRST artist to rank 3 albums in the top 10 of IFPI’s chart. BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: 7” is the winner of 2020’s IFPI Global Album Sales Chart. The chart combines global sales of physical and digital album downloads to rank the top albums of the year. BTS’ “BE (Deluxe Edition)” is at #2 in the chart and “Map Of The Soul: 7 ~ The Journey” ~ sits pretty at #8, bringing their total number of appearances across IFPI’s Global Charts to six. They are the FIRST act in history to occupy top 2 positions on IFPI’s Global Album Sales Chart list.

BTS the 1ST artist to appear on all 4 IFPI charts, they are the first group in history to have three albums in IFPI’s Top 10 best-selling albums worldwide in pure sales. BTS is the only act to appear in every single IFPI Year-End List of 2020 (artists, singles, albums units, albums pure). BTS (2020) and Michael Jackson (2009) are the only artists in history to rank three albums inside the top 10 of IFPI’s Year-End list in the same calendar year (pure sales).

“BTS’ success across IFPI’s global charts – including the top two positions in this chart – is unprecedented and demonstrates the amazing global appeal of their music. We would like to congratulate the band once again on such a successful year.”

Frances Moore, Chief Executive of IFPI, said
