The song has been doing exactly that since it debuted in the world on 21st August 2020, barely into its 7th month, the song has been extending its lead over most songs with the number of records it has been breaking since inception. Highest number of concurrent viewers, most viewed video in the first 24 hours, most liked BTS music video, (25 million likes) and 5th most like in the world, most wins on Koreas music show charts (32 wins), most commented on music video, the songs has been massive without a doubt!
“Dynamite” was intended to soothe listeners during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song talks about joy and appreciation for the little things that make life valuable.
“Dynamite” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the band’s first number-one single in the United States and making BTS the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. The song sold 265,000 downloads in its first week, marking the biggest pure sales week. “Dynamite” stayed atop the Hot 100 for three total weeks. On Spotify, “Dynamite” debuted with 7.778 million streams, marking the biggest opening-day for a song in 2020.
In January 2021, it was announced that “Dynamite” was the number one selling single in the US in 2020, racking up a total of 1.3 million physical copies sales according to Nielsen Music’s annual year-end report, surpassing the second-best selling song, “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, which sold 580,000 copies, by more than a 2.2x multiple.
In its third week, “Dynamite” reached number one on the Global 200 chart with 92.1 million global streams and 58,000 global downloads sold, becoming the most-streamed and most-sold song globally.
At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, “Dynamite” garnered a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, becoming the band’s first nomination and making BTS the first K-pop act to receive a Grammy nomination.
