It is time people stopped excusing making jokes about a person based on their gender, religion, color, language, country or region. For too long the offenders have excused and made jokes saying that their words were twisted or misinterpreted or taken out of context, wrong is wrong no matter how you put it. The world is already going through enough crisis without other people causing hatred and separation among individuals or group. This is the time that the world needs to come together to fight a common enemy yet some individual/s think spewing derogatory remarks and laughing them off as just jokes, is normal or ironic.
Having the freedom to speak does not mean that you can talk however you want about other individuals just because you can. How much hatred does a person have to just insult another human being without consciously thinking about how that affects and effects others?
ARMYs have time and again expressed their displeasure at racism of any form. They supported the “Black Lives Matter” by not only financially donating but being vocal about how it is unacceptable to hate someone or an individual based on their color. It is sad that the ugly side of racism and xenophobia has poked its head again, this time directed at BTS, not the first time though.
And the world wonders why ARMY is greatly protective of the members and everyone around them. Today they stand again to proclaim “RACISM IS NOT AN OPINION”. It is not just a stand that ARMY is taking, the whole world is condemning this act of blatant spewing of hatred at no provocation or cause.
Mattias Matuschik, of Bayern 3 presenter is currently under fire for making racist remarks against BTS on-air, after the group’s performance on MTV Unplugged. Matuschik Evaluated BTS’s MTV unplugged appearance terming it as “contradictory” and went as far as calling the member’s “Fix You” performance as “blasphemy.” In addition, Matuschik said, “The unpleasant people will have to go on vacation to North Korea for the next 20 years.” He compared BTS to the coronavirus, saying “( BTS ) is short for Corona 19 ( COVID-19 ). We need a vaccine that will cure them.”
These remarks are uncalled for and inexcusable. The company issued an apology on behalf of Matuschik claiming that he was just expressing his opinion, in an exaggerated way that was clear and even ironic. ARMYs in turn are responding that verbal abuse is not a joke nor is it ironic, it is just simply discrimination. ARMYs are reminding him and everyone that racism is not an opinion and will not be tolerated, its completely unacceptable!

It does not matter which fandom you support, everyone is affected
