Happy First Year Anniversary to BTS’ Artistic Masterpiece “Black Swan” Art Film Performed by MN Dance Company

No song embodies art, life, mystery, beauty and soul like BTS’s song “Black Swan”. Not only the lyrics but the whole performance is a show that one cannot take their eyes from. “Black Swan” uses light and shadows to depict the deep conflicting emotions that keep stirring fighting to come out. BTS members’ performances are flawless, and emotionally draw you in into the story like a moth being drawn to light. The song is a sort of surrendering to life or your art with abandon, letting go and giving in to get to the perfect illusion that is happiness.

“Black Swan” is from BTS’ fourth Korean-language studio album, “Map of the Soul: 7” released in 2020. The song was written by RM, August Rigo, Vince Nantes, Clyde Kelly and Pdogg. It was released on January 17, 2020 as the first single from the album. The lyrics are introspective and find BTS confessing, as artists, the fear of losing their passion for music.

“Black Swan” debuted at number seven on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and at number one on the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. The song debuted at number 46 on the UK Singles Chart and number 57 on the US Billboard Hot 100, in addition to entering record charts in several other territories.

Two accompanying music videos were released , both inspired by Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 movie of the same name and directed by YongSeok Choi of Lumpens. The first one premiered simultaneously with the release of the single in the form of an “art film,” including an interpretive dance performance by Slovenian-based modern dance troupe MN Dance Company.

The second video, released without any prior announcements on 4th March, is choreography-heavy and depicts BTS transforming into eponymous black swans on the stage of a theatre.

“Black Swan”, first debuted live on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Following the release of “Map of the Soul: 7,” BTS promoted the song with televised live performances on several South Korean music programs, including M! Countdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo. “Black Swan” has also been performed on several other stages; during BTS’ concert ‘Map Of The Soul One’, during BTS WEEK at Jimmy Fallon Show, at the 2020 Melon Music Awards (MMA), at The KBS Festival and the 2020 Golden Disk Awards.

“Black Swan” beat Adele’s 5 year Record for the song with the most #1s on iTunes worldwide, when in July last year it reached its 103rd country on iTunes.
